Welcome to Dubsland I am DJ Al Stevens and you have landed on my website where you can enjoy partying along with high quality sound dj mixes from wherever you are, simply leave this page open to listen to the very latest dj sets from myself or go to dj mixes on the menu for the full playlist of sets played by other members of dubsland. Now a little about me! well, I play these days just as a hobby but I still do some gigs, my view now is to mix new tunes with oldskool tunes while keeping a modern touch to my sets where possible, it really comes down to whatever sounds good at the time which is why there are various styles of music in my dj sets of late. Genres range from techno to house, electro, trance and disco tracks, some come from my own vinyl collection and others from dj friends and of course Beatport and Traxsource. Most of my friends would know me from deejaying at venues and pirate radio station Radio Dublin 253 as far back as the 80s to 1988, after which I went to Gran Canaria where I was resident dj in both The Garage, C.C Kasbah, Playa Del Ingles and later in Dreams Nightclub Pueto Del Carmen, Lanzorotti. When I returned to Ireland in the early 90s I djayed and organised small clubs and dance events, private parties, and worked in pirate radio station Club 106fm Blanchardstown and also Q95fm Firhouse. I was also Resident dj in the Big Tree Dorset Street, Dublin and afterwards around 1995 to 1996 I was resident dj organiser along with James Ennis on lighting upstairs at The Village Inn Finglas, both were very successful and I met many new friends from these gigs. I also organised and played at some very interesting underground dance music events since then, anyone remembering Parnell Street between 1997 and 2002 would know some of these gigs.
Most of my own sets of late are mixed using the Hercules RMX DJ Console combined with Atomix Virtual DJ, (don't ask why I don't use pioneer CDJs) I just don't, the good news is I didn't completely abandon my vinyl. Some DJ friends have also contributed to the sets playlist which despite the popularity of social networking sites like youtube and facebook I am happy to have pieces of historical oldskool dj professionalism attached to the exclusivity of Dubsland's sets playlist and you won't be dissapointed with the sound either. If you want your mix included on the playlist, First you have to be a DJ, 2nd we need to know that your a dj and if we know this then upload your set. ENJOY!..
